The implementation of the Eastern Kuku Yalanji Indigenous Land Use Agreement is one step closer after the signing of the Kaba Gada (Cow Bay) Community Development Plan.
This is the final Community Development Plan and the last of the four pilot areas chosen within the Eastern Kuku Yalanji ILUA.
The community development plans are models for local government planning and if successful, will be implemented by the remaining Traditional Owner Groups participating in the Eastern Kuku Yalanji ILUA.
The Kaba Gada (Cow Bay) plan was signed by Jalunji-Warra tribal elders David Solomon and Chrissy Grant.
Wet Tropics executive director Andrew Maclean said the signing of the last pilot plan was a significant stepping stone towards the return of Rainforest Aboriginal people to their traditional homelands.
