Media and Publications

The Authority produces a variety of media releases and publications for distribution to media outlets and the general public. Keeping the community up to date with Wet Tropics news and issues is important to the Authority. In the media section you can browse archived media releases, latests news and issues and Wet Tropics Managment Authority publications available for downloading.

Story ideas
If you're a journalist looking for story ideas, a range of story angles can be found below. Images to accompany the stories can be found in the image library. Rainforest Aboriginal participation in World Heritage management: click here for more pictures
In an historic event, the 18 Rainforest Aboriginal tribal groups of the Queensland Wet Tropics World Heritage Area and the Queensland and Australian Governments endorsed a Regional Agreement which formally recognises Traditional Owner involvement in land and cultural management. The Regional Agreement provides the foundation for government agencies to involve Aboriginal people in decision-making and on-ground management activities in the World Heritage Area.

While the region rebuilds after the devastation of Cyclone Larry, the Wet Tropics Management Authority has started to assess the environmental cost the cyclone has had on our World Heritage rainforests.

Feral deer are here:click here for more pictures
The public is being asked to help spot feral deer in the Wet Tropics. The ‘deer spotting’ campaign will help to raise public awareness about feral deer and to prevent them spreading throughout the Wet Tropics.
