Community Consultative Committee

The Community Consultative Committee (CCC) is a statutory committee under Queensland legislation. CCC members are appointed by the WTMA Board as individuals who represent a broad range of stakeholders from throughout the Wet Tropics region. The Board has endorsed the CCC operational guidelines. CCC members come from Cooktown to Townsville and represent the views of the broader community. They are World Heritage landholders and neighbours, farmers, councillors, four wheel drivers, wildlife conservationists, tourist industry representatives, teachers, scientists and and many wear several hats. The meetings are also regularly attended by representatives from QPWS, GBRMPA and Terrain NRM.

The CCC generally meets before Board meetings each quarter and discusses issues arising from Board papers and other issues affecting the management of the World Heritage Area. This includes such community issues as weeds, feral animals, road and tourism access, World Heritage governance, and wildlife conservation.Members do not receive sitting fees. The next CCC meets on Friday 2012.
