Design a model …that shows features of tropical rainforest.

Questions to ask yourself
• How will you represent EPIPHYTES (like ferns and orchids)?
• How will you represent EMERGENT TREES (like kauri pines)?
• How will you represent the UNDERSTOREY (like tree ferns, palms and seedlings)?
• How will you represent RAINFOREST DISTURBANCE (like that caused by a cyclone)?
• How will you represent PIONEER SPECIES that take advantage of rainforest disturbance?
• How will you represent VINES?
• How will you represent the FOREST FLOOR with its colourful leaves and buttress roots?
• How will you represent the RECYCLERS (like beetles and fungi) that break down organic matter into nutrients?

Conditions
Try to address all of the questions above.
Make your model out of recycled products - be creative!
All stages of rainforest growth should be represented in your model.
If necessary, label your model to make it easier to understand.
