The Wet Tropics World Heritage Area straddles across the two Regional Tourism Organisation (RTO) boundaries of Tourism Tropical North Queensland (TTNQ) and Townsville Enterprise (TEL). Both RTO's are membership based and industry funded. Their combined network of over 30 Visitor Information Centres can provide you with quality, unbiased information to help plan your visit and ensure your time in the Wet Tropics region is very special indeed.
TTNQ which is responsible for marketing Tropical North Queensland presents the Area as the World's best destination to engage with nature. TTNQ are responsible for promoting Tropical North Queensland as a travel destination around the world.
The region includes Cairns, Palm Cove and the beaches, Port Douglas and Daintree, Kuranda and the Atherton Tablelands, Mission Beach and the Cassowary Coast, Cape York and the Gulf Savannah.
In addition to its role as the peak Economic Development Organisation, Townsville Enterprise is also the Regional Tourism Organisation for the Townsville North Queensland region and works with the tourism industry and government/industry agencies such as Tourism & Events Queensland, Queensland Tourism Industry Council, Tourism Australia and the State and Federal Governments to position the Townsville Region as a diverse and exciting holiday destination.
The Tourism & Events Team coordinates cooperative marketing of the region, produces innovative marketing campaigns and generates positive media coverage of the region as a holiday destination through its media and trade familiarisation programs. The Team undertakes key tourism marketing campaigns each year to attract domestic and international visitors. Each campaign targets key source markets for the region. Townsville Enterprise Members are given the opportunity to participate in the campaigns and have their products showcased.
