Senator gives support to crazy ant eradication

Senator McGrath visited Mt Peter near Edmonton, Cairns on Saturday 11 April to find out more about yellow crazy ant infestations in the area and how land managers are tackling the issue.

The Authority’s Wet Tropics yellow crazy ant eradication team and its partners hosted the visit.

The Authority was pleased to see Senator McGrath was very supportive of the eradication team’s efforts. The senator shared his concerns about the dire impacts this highly invasive pest poses to not only the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area, but also the region’s primary industry and our tropical lifestyle.

Senator McGrath is a Senator for Queensland and is on the Senate Standing Committees on Environment and Communications.
