| Track Description |
Lake Eacham is a popular swimming and picnic spot. Wet Tropics Volunteers often set up displays here with information about the area and its flora and fauna, including bird watching information. Lake Eacham, like Lake Barrine, is a volcanic crater lake, known as a maar. It support several types of upland rainforest and a wide range of flora and fauna. There are several viewing platforms to see the fish and turtles in the lake. A QPWS species list is available for the mammals.
The 700 metre self-guiding walk runs between the lake and the ranger station, through a corner of the rainforest that was once partially cleared and settled. Pick up a brochure from the ranger station or the lake (if available). It has 16 checkpoints and contains information about plants, animals and Aboriginal history of the area. You can also do a 3 kilometre walk around the lake.
