Places and Drives - The Central Coast - Babinda Boulders

The Boulders are a popular swimming hole and picnic area for locals and tourists, and a place of spiritual significance for Aboriginal people. Unfortunately, the fast-flowing creek has a reputation for claiming the lives of unwary visitors through a combination of fast water, slippery boulders and careless behaviour. The 19km (12 mile) Goldfield Track connects Babinda Boulders with the Goldsborough Valley, crossing a low saddle in the Bellenden Ker Range. Check track conditions with the rangers first on (07) 4067-6304 before you consider this hike.

How to get there
The Boulders are 7km inland from Babinda. Turn off the Bruce Highway into Babinda and stop at the volunteer-run Babinda Information Centre for directions (open 9 to 4 pm daily).
