Places and Drives - The Tablelands - Koombooloomba Dam

Koombooloomba was once a small town complete with a school and cricket club when workers were building the hydroelectric dam across the Tully Falls in the 1950's. Now deserted, it is a quiet spot for camping, fishing and non-motorised watersports - although it can get busy on weekends and school holidays.

How to get there
Koombooloomba Dam is 40km (25 miles) from Ravenshoe along the Tully Falls Road, which begins on the outskirts of Ravenshoe at the Mt Garnet road junction. Some sections of the road are not sealed. Contact the DNR office in Atherton on (07) 4091-1844.
