Places and Drives - The Southern Tropics - Murray Falls

This extensive picnic and camping area beside Murray Falls is a great place to relax and unwind after a day's driving. There is access to swimming holes, a 2.5km (1.5 mile) rainforest walk and viewing platforms above and below the pretty 20m (65 foot) falls. It's well worth the walk to the top platform for great views across the alley, but stay on the track - it can be slippery and dangerous at the top of the falls.

How to get there
Look for the Murray Falls turnoff 30 minutes' drive south of Tully, or 30 minutes north of Cardwell. The 20km unsealed road to the falls is generally in good condition and will take you past farms and the Jumbun Aboriginal community. Further information is available from DNR Cardwell on (07) 4066-8779
