Terrain
Terrain Natural Resource Management was formed under the Natural Heritage Trust arrangements. It has a commitment to ensuring community involvement and capacity in managing the natural resources of the Wet Tropics region. Terrain is responsible for:
- Developing and implementing a regional plan for managing natural resources in the Wet Tropics to encourage the conservation and sustainble use of the region's natural assets.
- Facilitating the integration of efforts and increased community participation in managing natural resources.
- Strategic investment of funds to manage natural resources at a regional scale (including leveraging funds from a range of public and private sources including the Natural Heritage Trust).
- Communication and distribution of accurate and relevant information.
Terrain consists of a Board, a Membership Body and employees.
Members can be any bone fide group (greater than 10 people) with an interest in Natural Resource Management. Members are not required to be a legal entity. The Memebrship Body acts as a conduit between the grass-roots community and the Board on Natural Resource Management issues and opportunities.
