The Wet Tropics Management Authority will conduct yellow crazy ant aerial baiting at Mount Peter, Gordonvale, sugarcane fields at Edmonton and at Russett Park near Kuranda from Thursday 6 September for three to five days, weather permitting. The baiting is part of our ongoing commitment to eradicate yellow crazy ants from the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area and surrounds.
The helicopter will not conduct baiting directly over homes. There may be instances where the pilot may approach within 100m of suburban property boundaries or rural buildings. Accordingly, notice of these operations is provided as required by Civil Aviation Order 20.21 Instrument 2015 (https://www.legislation.gov.au/Details/F2015L00662).
Aerial baiting is highly weather dependent; treatment dates may change unexpectedly. Any updates will be posted at www.wettropics.gov.au.

The control of yellow crazy ant infestations in and adjacent to the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area is supported through funding from the Australian Government’s National Landcare Programme and the Queensland Department of Environment and Science.
