Bringing World Heritage to the people

It was a busy three days for Wet Tropics staff at the Cairns Show recently.

Wet Tropics posters, stickers and colouring-in pages were a big hit with the kids while many of the adults shared their affiliation with the World Heritage Area and different interactions with wildlife in and around the Wet Tropics. Cassowaries and crocodiles were major topics of conversation as were yellow crazy ants and management  of pests and weeds.

The Authority had the pleasure of sharing a stall with staff members from the Department of Environment and Heritage Protection Wildlife Unit who were on hand to answer any wildlife management questions and educate the community about being croc-wise in croc country.
