The 2016 ‘Keep it Wild’ competition is themed ‘Living Lightly’ and has grown to include not only the traditional poster entries but also sculptures and collages made from recycled materials and clean litter. The competition, which closed on Friday 22 July, was open to primary-school aged children from across the Wet Tropics region and attracted over 120 entries from 7 schools/organisations.
Selected eco-art will be on display at the Cairns Botanic Gardens Visitor Centre from Wednesday 10 August to Sunday 11 September as part of a broader ‘Living Lightly’ exhibition, which will also provide more information about recycling and sustainable living in the Wet Tropics.
