Are you passionate about the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area and want your opinion on its management heard? As part of a 10-year review, we are calling for comment on the Wet Tropics Management Plan 1988.
The Management Plan is the regulatory instrument that protects the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area with a zoning and permit scheme, regulating activities that have the potential to affect World Heritage values.
After taking into account points raised during the first phase of public consultation (held during 2017–2018), the Authority has adapted the plan and expanded it to include a strategic plan—this new approach addresses matters such as climate change, biosecurity and supporting Rainforest Aboriginal People.
The draft Wet Tropics Management Plan will be available for review and comment from 2 March 2019 at wettropics.gov.au/planreview. Submissions close on 18 April 2019.
