Thursday, 24 Aug 2017

The Australian Tropical Herbarium is holding a 3-day rainforest plant identification course in the Daintree 30 July–1 August 2016.

Courses are open to the public and teach skills in rainforest plant identification. While the focus is on rainforest plants, the skills learned can be used to identify plants that grow in habitats outside of the rainforest.

The course is being held at the Daintree Rainforest Observatory at Cape Tribulation.

Course content includes:

  • what is a rainforest
  • how plants are named
  • plant structure and terminology
  • walking tour of rainforest and hands-on learning through identification of local native plants
  • a review of important rainforest plant families, and the features used to identify them in the field.
