Rhonda, from Malanda, was chosen from four finalists state-wide who each nominated a project they felt was important for their Queensland rural town.
Rhonda’s project is to lead Sustainable Small Farms Field Days to encourage sustainable farm practice among smaller landholders.
The winner of the RIRDC rural women of the year awards for 2014 was Lauren Hewitt from Brisbane. Lauren's award ambitions are focused on improving farm profitability for broadacre agriculture across Australia, by sharing knowledge of leasehold tenure and rent security and improving collaboration between leasehold jurisdictions.
The Queensland winner and runner up were announced at a ceremony at Parliament House in Brisbane on 5 March 2014.
