In August 2017, local photographers were invited to submit photos which showcase the splendour of the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area and what it means to them.
The Snap the Tropics competition attracted more than 150 entries from local photographers across the Wet Tropics region. Entries were independently judged by acclaimed Cairns nature photographer Mike Prociv.
The photo competition winners and finalists were recently recognised at a morning tea event at Cairns Botanic Gardens Visitor Centre.
Australian Tropical Herbarium's Darren Crayn, Cairns Regional Council's Cr Richie Bates and judge Mike Prociv joined winners to launch the exhibition and present prizes.
Winners' and finalists' photos are on public display at the Visitor Centre until 22 December; we encourage you to visit the Cairns Botanical Gardens Visitor Centre between 6-22 December and see the best of Snap the Tropics.
Date: 6-22 December 2017
Venue: Cairns Botanical Gardens Visitor Centre, 64 Collins Ave, Edge Hill
