Taskforce maps yellow crazy ants

The recent yellow crazy ant taskforce field inspection showed that the ants had not progressed as far as first thought.

The taskforce mapped the extent of the yellow crazy ant infestation and took samples for laboratory testing.

Taskforce participants were briefed on the survey methods for finding yellow crazy ants in the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area and the foothills of Edmonton and Bentley Park eradication program. This included:

• monitoring
• crazy ant biology
• crazy ant identification
• history of yellow crazy ant management in the area
• and the Wet Tropics Management Authority’s yellow crazy ant eradication program.
