Focus
Write a rainforest glossary.

Background
Words listed in the prior activities that are important in the understanding of the rainforest are identified. The group’s understanding of these words is listed in alphabetical order to form a glossary. A sample Glossary is provided.

Pedagogy/teaching strategies
Review of glossaries displaying organisational features such as the alphabetical order of concept words.

Activity sequence

  1. Review resources from the brainstorming activity and learning journal in Activity
  2. Enter concept words into the glossary.
  3. Review notes and learning journal entry after viewing the rainforest videos (Activity 2). Enter concept words into the glossary.
  4. Additional glossary items are added during each activity.

The glossary formation is an ongoing activity which culminates at the end of the unit. All important activities should be included.
