Rainforest Aboriginal Peoples are the Traditional Custodians of the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area (the Area) and continue to hold unique cultural responsibilities, rights and interests in this rich cultural landscape.
The Rainforest Aboriginal Peoples’ Regional Forum provides an important opportunity for collaboration, knowledge sharing and planning for the future management of the Area.
Hosted by the Wet Tropics Management Authority with support from Terrain NRM and Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service and Partnerships, the Regional Forum brings together Rainforest Aboriginal Peoples, government agencies and key stakeholders to strengthen partnerships and support the ongoing protection of this globally significant region.
The Regional Forum supports the commitments of the Wet Tropics Regional Agreement 2005, ensuring Rainforest Aboriginal Peoples remain actively involved in the management of the Area.
Upcoming Regional Forum
The next Rainforest Aboriginal Peoples’ Regional Forum will be held on Tableland Yidinji Country at Tinaroo Lake Resort from Tuesday 20- Thursday 22 October 2026.
