Accept, Act, Adapt: Climate Adaptation Plan for the Wet Tropics 2020─2030

Report cover mock up

The Accept, Act, Adapt: Climate Adaptation Plan for the Wet Tropics 2020─2030 outlines targeted actions to help the region’s natural systems adapt to the impacts of climate change.

Climate Change is the single most significant threat to the ancient plants and animals across the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area (the Area). These species are an important part of Australia’s natural and cultural heritage and make a significant contribution to the Outstanding Universal Value of the Area.

The Climate Adaptation Plan was developed by the Wet Tropics Management Authority, in collaboration with a regional community of practice. It responds to concerns from Rainforest Aboriginal Peoples, government, stakeholders and the local community about the vulnerability of the region’s natural and cultural values. The Adaptation Plan identifies key actions and initiatives to build resilience and support adaptation across natural systems, cultures, communities and economies.

With the Climate Adaptation Plan now in the second phase of implementation, a mid-term review of progress will set a focused direction for implementation of actions through 2026─2030.
