The Mount Sorrow Ridge walk climbs from Cape Tribulation to a lookout, 650 metres above the Daintree Coastline. The dense lowland forest with vines and large buttress roots becomes more open and windswept as you ascend the ridge and the vegetation becomes lower and dominated by acacias. The lookout is a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the rewards of this difficult climb - views of the forest below with feather palms protruding, Cape Tribulation and the Daintree coast, Snapper Island and the Great Barrier Reef beyond.
Take heed if you plan to do this walk. This track is a steep and difficult walk. You should be fit and experienced. Never leave the track as walkers have been lost here. Always tell someone else of your walk plans and when you expect to return. Do not attempt this walk when the weather is wet, very hot or the views are obscured by cloud. Make sure you have 3 or 4 litres of water for the climb. Wear sturdy footwear and carry waterproof clothing if there is any possibility of rain.
The start of the marked trail is signposted on the Bloomfield Road, just north of Kulki/Cape Tribulation.
