Wet Tropics World Heritage Guides is an exciting new program to enhance World Heritage presentation, interpretation and experience delivery in the Wet Tropics.
Building on previous successful tour guide training programs, the Wet Tropics World Heritage Guides is a unique resource. It has been developed specifically for those who interact with visitors to the Wet Tropics, but is available to anyone with an interest in the region’s natural and cultural values.
Overview
The Wet Tropics World Heritage Guides is delivered through a free, self-paced online learning platform, to be followed by a range of professional development opportunities, including face-to-face activities.
Recognising the wide variety of roles that contribute to visitor experiences in the Wet Tropics, there are three levels identified, with a specific training course for each.

Background
Developing this program is a key action from the Wet Tropics Sustainable Tourism Plan 2021–2031, which acknowledges the value of professional tour guides, community advocacy and consistent messaging in delivering high-quality visitor experiences.
The Wet Tropics World Heritage Guides is a partnership between the Wet Tropics Management Authority, the Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation, and Tourism and Events Queensland.
